To further facilitate scientists’ research work, Alfa Chemistry Catalysts recently launches a new category of high-quality catalysts that could be used for olefin metathesis reaction.
“After taking the market demand into full consideration, we decide to launch two types of catalysts that could be used for olefin metathesis reactions, namely, heterogeneous catalysts and homogeneous catalysts. Commercially available olefin metathesis reactions use heterogeneous catalysts,” says the spokesperson from Alfa Chemistry Catalysts.
Heterogeneous catalysts are typically prepared by in situ activation of metal halides using organoaluminium or organotin compounds, while homogeneous catalysts are further classified into schrock catalysts and grubbs catalysts.
About olefin metathesis reaction
During this chemical reaction, two carbon-carbon double bonds come together and exchange with one another, and new olefinic products are formed in the process. The olefin metathesis reaction is of great significance in polymer material chemistry, organic synthesis chemistry as well as drug development industry. Cross metathesis (CM), ring-opening metathesis (ROM), ring-closing metathesis (RCM), ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP), acyclic diene metathesis (ADMET), and ethenolysis are all common types of olefin metathesis. Being cost-effective, scalable, and environmental friendly, olefin metathesis reactions have become very popular techniques.
About Application of olefin metathesis catalysts:
The olefin metathesis reaction won’t occur without a catalyst. During last decade, a large number of catalysts have been developed for olefin metathesis. For example, the Schrock catalysts are among the most efficient available, operating at very high turnover frequencies.
The olefin metathesis catalysts provided at Alfa Chemistry Catalysts include: Dimethyltitanocene (5% in Tetrahydrofuran/Toluene) (CAS 1271-66-5), AquaMet (CAS 1414707-08-6),
(3-Phenyl-1H-inden-1-ylidene)bis(tricyclohexylphosphine)ruthenium(II) Dichloride (CAS 250220-36-1), and nitro-Grela (CAS 502964-52-5).
In addition, Alfa Chemistry Catalysts also provides catalysts for other reaction types, such as C-H Activation, Coupling, Epoxidation, Hydrogenation, Hydroxylation, and Reduction. Visit
